“Why doesn’t the TOWER TEN have a built-in DAC?”
The TOWER TEN does not have its own DAC because unlike the analog technology used inside which is currently state of the art, the digital technology used in DACs is constantly evolving, therefore it would make the device outdated if not obsolete in a year’s time..
The amplifier is built inside a tower structure that also serves as a floor lamp and providing a dedicated slot for the DAC in the context that would allow for any future replacement would have increased the costs in an unacceptable way for this version of the product..
“Why doesn’t the TOWER TEN have a remote control?”
The TOWER TEN, as far as the audio section is concerned, has not been provided with a remote control because it has been conceived as a high sensitivity final amplifier with extreme performance, and all those circuit sections that are not strictly indispensable have been carefully avoided..
The TOWER TEN is designed to be positioned close to the speakers and typically at an angle and once the gain level and any adjustments on the room corrector have been set, it basically does not need remote control.
For high definition listening through digital sources, everything can be easily controlled via smartphone and therefore an additional remote control to manage the input or volume would have been really useful.
And even if minimal, the negative impact on the signal introduced by electronic adjustments is not worth the convenience of a second remote control for a product that aims to guarantee you the highest performance technically possible today.
The lamp section has a remote control that can control all the brightness and light tone functions.
“Why doesn’t the TOWER TEN have balanced inputs?”

“Can I drive the TOWER TEN directly from the source without a preamp?”
The TOWER TEN is a high sensitivity power amplifier with gain control, it can therefore be easily driven directly by a network streamer or any other analog source that has its own volume control.
Using a pre-amplifier may be advisable if you want to have more inputs and/or also use an analog turntable as a source.
It goes without saying that any pre-amplifier to be associated with the TOWER TEN must be of an adequate quality level..
“Which version of the TOWER TEN should I choose?”
From a purely audio point of view, two stereo models are currently available with a power of 27W per channel for the first and 39W per channel for the second.
Even though the differences may seem minimal, the two amplifiers are significantly different because on a dynamic level the second one is capable of delivering almost 100W more power: 312W compared to the 220W of the first model..
The nearly 100W difference between the two results in a greater ability to play at high volumes.
So if you have speakers with a sensitivity higher than 89 dB and you don’t want to shake the walls when listening to your favorite music, you can safely choose the less powerful version, otherwise you should prefer the higher power version.
Note that the lower powered version is still able to approximate the volume of a live jazz orchestra in a normal home environment..
